Beta Club

The
National Beta Club, started in 1934, will celebrate its
seventy-fifth anniversary in 2009. The Club is a leadership
organization that is run by student members. Although the
job of Sponsor/Advisor is a crucial one, the primary goal is
to allow students to experience leadership. Students are
selected on the basis of academic achievement (90 average),
as well as citizenship and leadership qualities. Students at
Carolina Christian who meet the standards for membership
will be selected at the end of their freshman year.
The Beta
Club motto is, “Let us lead by serving others.” What a
fitting motto for a Christian school. Throughout the school
year, Beta members will be helping with various projects
that “serve others.” Their first project will be to
assist the Student Body in preparing the Shoe Boxes to be
delivered to Samaritan's Purse. On December 9, our Beta
members will visit Emerald Ridge Nursing Home to distribute
handmade Christmas cards to the 100+ members there.
The
National Beta Club has scholarship opportunities as well as
competitions in all subject areas at the National Beta Club
Convention, usually held in
Greensboro
in February. As we grow our Club, we hope to be competitive
in some of these areas.
